Chapter 7

The Half way house! Brrr, it's a bit cold here.

Anyway, ignoring that you'll see a new ship part just waiting for you. This is a Push Beam which works in the same way as the pull beam but...well you know. And to get you warmed up to the concept there's a puzzle requiring this new part just past the upgrade station. You need to push the metal beam at the bottom to the right so that the upright beam resting on it falls down the hole. The ship design I use involves moving the left/right thrusters to the top corner sockets, but on the end of pipes with a slight bend so they still point directly left or right. I then put 3 straight pieces on the right socket and the push beam goes on the end. I counter balance this on the other side with a Y shaped pipe and two slight bends attached to it. It might be worth using the more powerful boosters at the bottom of your ship too. Then all you need to do is position your ship so the push-beam is just about touching the beam that needs shifting and engage it!

Next comes a similar puzzle where you need to shoot a ball into a bunch of boxes to knock down another beam blocking your way - except you must fire it right or it'll just be brought back by a conveyer belt. I use the same design as above but only two straight pipes and the push beam on the right hand side, then move as close as possible to the bottom ball and fire! That usually does the trick.

Bob Came In Pieces: Second Ship Part location on level 7Carry on to the right and you'll come across two beams that have arrows printed on them. This indicates that they are springy! So to move forward you need to fit a push beam to the bottom of your ship and push the smaller beam down, allowing the larger beam to slide to the right. Use a couple of straight pipes again from the bottom centre socket ending with the push beam and that should work. Don't move on too quickly though as this ship design should also help with getting a new part for your ship: just to the left of the upgrade station is a seesaw with the ship part on the left. If you position your ship over the small gap in the ground to the left of the repair station and fire the push beam, the seesaw will swing around and bring the ship part with it so it's easy to grab.

Bob Came In Pieces: Third Ship Part location on level 7There's also another ship part to grab just afterwards! If you travel down past the spring beam you should find a small area where there is a platform and a couple of grey rocks either side. If you drop down underneath this platform you will fall into a small pond where a ship part is waiting for you! Check the picture for the exact position.

Bob Came In Pieces: Fourth Ship Part location on level 7To the left and up a bit is an upgrade station under a green trapdoor. There is also a ball placed above a small hole in the ceiling. Go to the upgrade station and change your ship design so that you have two straight pipes with the push beam attached to the top centre of your ship. The aim here is to push the ball above the hole so that it lands on the trap door to the left. You might need to take a run up to the hold while firing the push beam to get enough momentum but it should be possible. You can then grab the new ship part!

Drop down and fly to the left after picking this up. It's time to move onto the last main puzzle, which involves a huge seesaw that needs to be overbalanced so you can reach the portal! If you fly upwards and to the left you can see a pile of balls and a few holes. If you position yourself as pictured you'll get a better view. Your next ship design must be capable of two things (to make this easier at least.) Place a pull-beam on the bottom-centre of your ship to lift balls up and drop them in the firing range. Next, if your left/right rockets are still attached to the top corner sockets of your ship, move them to the direct left and right sockets. Then put two straight pipes and the push beam in the top left socket and a straight pipe with a Y shaped pipe on the end in the top right socket. Your ship should balance enough then to solve this puzzle.

Bob Came In Pieces: Fifth Ship Part location on level 7Pick up a ball and drop it as indicated in the picture, then move to the spot where your push beam will fire it to the left. You should be able to fire it with enough force to hit the large green box which will fall down and unbalance the seesaw letting you past - however don't go just yet as you'll want that ship part in the red box!

For this final piece put as many balls as possible into the firing position and use small bursts of the push beam as before. With lots of balls there one of them should knock the red crate down. Next fly down there, being careful not to fly into the portal! The red wood of the crate is flammable (like the twigs from earlier) so burn that box and get the part out! All that's left to do after that is to go through the portal.

Chapter 8

According to the level intro Bob feels like breaking stuff, lets not disappoint him!

At the first upgrade station fit a rocket to the top middle of your ship, then when you reach the red bridge holding the ice blocks in place you can burn it from below. Don't worry about the ice blocks falling on you, they break far more easily than you'd think.

Bob Came In Pieces: First Ship Part location on level 8Soon after this you will come to another upgrade station which has a large slab of ice to the right. I would recommend fitting some powerful rockets to the bottom of your ship at this point. You should be able to break through most obstacles that way. Once you've broken the first slab of ice, break the one covering the passage down - you'll need some good run ups for these. Then travel down this passage and follow it all the way around. You will, after breaking much ice, reach a new ship part! When you've picked this up and carry on to the right to finally return to the cross roads you were previously at.

Personally I find it fun to refit my ship at this point with some down pointing rockets - it makes bashing the ice about a lot more fun! But more importantly you'll need it for the next puzzle.

Bob Came In Pieces: Second Ship Part location on level 8Head right and have a bit of fun bashing the ice, or otherwise, just follow the maze the blocks of ice create. Soon you'll come to a clue exclamation mark saying "Speed + Mass = Kaboom". Use your top rockets to burn the bridge, causing a stone slab to smash into the large ice block breaking it and allowing you to pass. Before you do this however there is a block of ice above where the stone fell down from. Take a huge run up at it and smash it and you'll find just above it a new ship part!

Travel back down the passage - take the left side of the downwards passage and keep flying, past the next upgrade station until you reach 3 different passages, all blocked with a slab of ice.

Bob Came In Pieces: Third Ship Part location on level 8The lowest level should be dealt with first. Goto the nearest upgrade station (on the middle of the 3 levels) and remove any rockets on the top of your ship. Then change your right hand rocket with a more powerful one and add an additional rocket on the right side using a slightly bent pipe in the top right socket. Then go down to the lowest level, take a good run up and break the ice! There is a new ship part waiting behind this to be claimed!

Bob Came In Pieces: Fourth Ship Part location on level 8Next take out the middle ice slab (opposite the upgrade station). Once you've done this, redesign your ship so that you have at least one rocket pointing down. Then travel down that middle passage until you reach a small platform next to a block of ice as pictured. Take a run up and break this ice which is hiding another ship part! After this continue round the passage until you reach an upwards passage and another upgrade station.

Bob Came In Pieces: Fifth Ship Part location on level 8Follow the passage around to the left a little but lookout for a slab of ice on the ceiling that is holding back a ball that's glowing green. Bash this block of ice and let the ball free - it's going to help soon. Chase the ball down the passage as it breaks ice blocks here and there. Finally it will drop down, breaking a large block that is hiding another ship part! After a short while it should be possible to pick this up.

Continuing on you'll find a strange thing - a wooden thingymabob holding up a block of ice with a stone block on top. You don't need to do anything here, in fact I'm almost certain this was an abandoned idea (unless someone knows differently?) as we've already picked up all of the ship parts in this level! If you continue to the left you will soon find the portal!

Chapter 9

This level will blow you away...ok, enough of that. You'll already know by now that fans are the main feature of this chapter.

Travelling upwards from the start you'll get a good idea of how these fans work. Soon you'll see a new ship part to pick up. This is a fairly easy one, you just need to get the approach right. It helps if you fit more powerful side rockets to your ship (there's a nearby upgrade station) and the most powerful rocket you have under the ship to give you extra boost. If you fly into the flow of air at speed you should be able to collect this ship part.

If you continue up and to the right you'll find yourself at a large mechanism with a collection of balls and a fan at the end of a tube. When the scene zooms out you should be able to see a seesaw with a snowball on one end. The seesaw is blocked from balancing by two blocks of ice! If you look closely you'll notice that the snowball is glowing...as if it was hiding a ship part.

Bob Came In Pieces: Second Ship Part location on level 9Go back to the upgrade station and outfit your ship with a pull beam on the bottom so you can pick up balls. On returning to the mechanism push the lever (situated just above the balls) upwards and downwards until it's aimed at just above the first ice block. Then pick up a ball and drop it into the hole in the tube just next to the fan. The ball should shoot out and destroy the block. This might take some aiming, but once both ice blocks have been destroyed the seesaw will balance itself and the snowball will roll down towards you, revealing the ship part.

Next head down past the upgrade station and break the ice blocking the way (you may need to refit your ship to add down pointing rockets for this.) At the next upgrade station go right and it's time to have some fan-fun. There's a ship part in the middle of all those fans, however they are arranged so that it spits you back out of that area without being able to pick it up. The best method is to fit some powerful bottom rockets to your ship and keep firing them as you enter the air stream. You should be able to reach a quite area in the top right of the airflow. Then it's a judgment call how you re-enter to pick up the next piece.

After this head back towards the left and go downwards. You'll notice another ship part with two large slabs of ice either side. These cannot be broken conventionally you need a bit of help. To the left of this is a fan blocked by some wood. Burn the wood and let the fan propel you into the ice which will then allow you to pick up the new ship part.

Bob Came In Pieces: Piston Puzzle ExplanationContinue down and to the left and you'll come across another mechanism that is blocking the way. The first job here is to retrieve the ball that is blocked by the slab of ice behind a force-field. Change your ship so you can pick up and drop the ball to the right of the upgrade station down the left hand hole just below it. The first fan at the bottom will blow it right, then the other fan will blow it upwards, breaking the ice and releasing the second ball. Then you'll need to pick each ball up and drop it on the fan on the left, which is quite tricky because you don't want to get sucked into the flow! take a small run up while holding a ball and let go before you reach the air flow. once both balls are pushing up the piston you can rush past the airflow.

Bob Came In Pieces: Fifth Ship Part location on level 9Carry on left until you reach an upgrade station. Just to the right of this is a passage down with a piston blocking the final ship part for this level. To the left of the upgrade station is a "mobile fan" which can be pushed around, currently suspended by a flammable wooden bridge! Burn the bridge and allow the fan to drop down. The next parts are a bit tricky! You'll need to use pull (and possible push) beams to tip the fan on it's side so it's blowing to the right. Then, once you've managed this, push it all the way to the right so that it blows the piston clear of blocking the final ship part. You can then fly around the upgrade station to go pick this up.

However we still need to use the mobile fan to get to the end of the level! Go to the upgrade station and outfit your ship so you have a pull beam (I find one at the bottom is best for manipulating the mobile fan) and a push beam on the right hand side of the ship. You'll need to turn the mobile fan around so it's pointing upwards again and push it to the far left. This will push the piston blocking your way, so fly back round and through the airflow to the other side. However you'll now see that the piston's position is blocking the portal! Use the push beam on the lower level to push the mobile fan away and the piston will fall back down. You can then reach the portal and continue onwards.
