So what IS this genre all about?
Rather than being the attacker or lone ranger character, in these games your job is to protect and defend.
The oncoming enemies will often follow a set path towards their goal. Some games allow you to influence this path (Defense Grid/Desktop Defense for example) to prolong the time it takes enemies to reach their goal.
There are usually various types of tower and enemy within each game. Often certain towers will be better against certain enemies.
A general rule in most of these games is that a single upgraded tower is better than 2 of the same type. Although some games do not have tower upgrades. Tower defense games are great, but click here to see all reviews on the site!
